Tips to Ensure an Enjoyable Family Vacation

Have a family meeting to determine where everyone wants to go. Once the destination is determined, go to the library and check out books about it. Look them over with the children and watch their excitement grow.
If traveling by car:
Break up the ride by stopping at parks and exploring little towns along the way. If you're driving vast distances, do a lot of the driving at night, as the children will be sleepy and more tolerant of being "stuck" in the car.
Play games involving license plates, different kinds of cars, fast food chains- create games using all the items you see during your trip.
If traveling by airplane:
Always try to get the bulkhead seats so the children have room to spread out.
Call ahead and order your child a special kids' meal to ensure that mealtime is a special treat.
